Abstract
Patients attending core CR following SCAD were representative of the known SCAD population, predominately younger females and were more likely to have fewer traditional cardiac risk factors than patients with an atherosclerotic myocardial event CR adherence was good in this cohort due to the prior implementation of strategies to promote adherence. In the general population, SCAD is the cause of ACS in only 1 to 4 of cases however SCAD is an important cause of ACS in younger women, accounting for almost a quarter of cases in women under 50 yoa therefore it is important that we recognise this statistic and encourage referral of these young patients with SCAD to CR Despite limited outcome measures, it was clear by patient feedback and improved HADS scores that cardiac rehab provides valuable psychological and physiological support. Limitations and Future research, not all outcome measures were recorded as some SCAD patients came through during the pandemic when patients were virtual only. Plus we didn’t investigate any trends into which arteries were affected and also any activity or events relating to onset of symptoms.
